Khongor Sand Dunes
Khongor Sand Dunes is located in Sevrei soum, Umnugobi province, Mongolia. This sand dunes is called Duut Mankhan which means Singing Sand lies in Gobi Gurvan Saikhan National Park. Khongor sand dune is 10 to 195 meter high, around 180 kilometer long east to west, the area of 925 square kilometers of sand hill coexisting with Sevrei Mountain. Looking around Khongor sand dunes, rocky mountains in the south, sand dunes in the middle, and a green oasis with the river in the north makes the view amazing. If you lie down on the sand, it moves due to wind or is in the process of collapse due to small avalanches, a strange sound is made giving it the name of the ‘Singing Sand”.
